Web based video evaluation

For this I wanted to make a misheard lyric video but with pictures. I had seen many misheard lyric videos on YouTube but they only use lyrics. I do use some lyrics but not many to help the misheard lyric come across. I wanted to use pictures to make it more fun as I could play around with them and make them seem like they are moving. Also it`s not spoon feeding so you see the picture and it makes you think for a bit till the misheard lyrics click and to me that’s funnier than words.

How I made it-

Hearing songs and thinking the wrong lyrics came easy to me, but when finding songs on YouTube I had to be careful. They would have to be well known, but I also wanted old ones to widen my audience, so I chose popular classics. Also when finding pictures, I had to be careful as they had to be very simple and relatable to the misheard lyric and audience. The pictures really had to spell out the misheard lyric. For example, when choosing someone for “Jason waterfalls” I chose musicians as people are more likely to know their faces. After finding music videos off YouTube and downloading them I then put them and chosen pictures off google on adobe premiere. I’d find parts of the song with the misheard lyric and cut a bit before and after so you expect the right lyric. When the misheard lyric came the picture or pictures would show over the video of the song. I wanted the pictures to look good so I  used many effect like edge feather, cropping, multiplying, sunlight on lens and horizontal flip on the pictures. At first the video was 5 minutes long as I`d let the songs play to long. This wasn’t ideal so I cut parts that were unneeded, as short and snappy would make it funnier. Also at the start I had a punny tittle with a herd of sheep on a misheard video. This is to show what`s to expect in this video, fun and a play on words. To make it more professional I used fade in and out at the start and end of the video. Again the end title is thanks for watching which is better than “subscribe” and is more personal.

Performance video evaluation

How I made it-

To make this I recorded my self-playing my own song in my room using my laptop and phone camera. I used the multi cam technique and looked at artists who have used it in their videos such as Ed Sheeran in his “one” video. I decided to video the song with my memory wall as my background because some pictures relate to the song and I thought it would look better than a blank wall. I cleared the shot area and opened my curtains wide so I would get good light. To recording many angles with my phone I sellotaped it on to my microphone stand to get a high shot, close shots and above ukulele shots. I simultaneously recorded off my phone and laptop to help sync when putting the video together. The laptop was out of shot put still showing a good view of me playing. I then recorded me playing the song again on my phone and used that as the audio track. Recording tuck around two to three days, so I had to make sure I was wearing the same clothes and the light was the same. When putting the videos together on adobe premiere I wanted to show the different angled shots throughout the song, so I cut different parts and put them together. Some of the phone footage was out of sync with its self. I didn’t expect this to happen and this made it hard to match with the separate audio track. Also in parts I played faster so I had to slow some video down when editing. The camera on my laptop wasn`t as good as my phone, so I tried using a sharp tool when editing but that didn’t really help. Also with all the different camera angels It picked up different lighting so I used colour editing such as contrast, brightness and colour enhancement to help the colour not drastically change from one shot to another. I used EQ on my audio to erase some background and static noise it had picked up. This song is about my boyfriend so the tittle picture relates to being my partner/ 2 player when it comes to games. The tittle font looks very game and comic like which is why I chose it. the end title is “thanks for watching” as a nice personal touch.

projet ideas

For my multimedia video I want to make a misheard lyric video. I have been searching for good and bad videos to see what people think of them and how I can make mine different. Many didn’t like this one as the misheard lyrics are nothing like what the actual lyrics sound like bad misheard.

This is what I want my video to be like but with mainly pictures showing the misheard lyric. misheard with pics

no thanks this video wrecks misheard lyric videos

My performance video will be a multi cam video with just me playing my ukulele and singing my song at different angels. like this but with static cameras and closeup`s of the ukulele and an over head shot.

multi cam shoot

we put up cameras high, center, left, right etc to record Josh as he was playing his song in the studio. We also recorded his guitar and vocals via microphones.I liked this and will use this technique for my performance video. The software was`t working so I couldn’t make this. It was hard to find a video on YouTube with out it being named multi track, so this is the closest I could find.

multi track vids

For this we recorded josh playing his song in different areas, then we synced them together to make one video. I wasn’t able to locate my files of josh, so I’ve found some great videos on YouTube which show what multi tracking is and also multi cam.

Ed Shred

This is my shred video

shredding is when you take say a music video, take away the original audio and put new audio over the top. the new audio could be bad singing or playing etc. If I had time I would of made it with adobe premiere. Instead I used my phone laptop and tablet to record me singing and playing ukulele bad.

We could also make harmonizator video, I didn’t but here are some great one`s

This is my mash up video.

A mash up video is when you take videos and edit them. For example cutting videos up and putting them together/mash to make a new one. To make this I tuck music and videos from YouTube and pictures from google. Then cut parts out of the original videos and audio that I wanted to use and stuck them together with pictures.
